Winners for Challenge #62-Birthdays

What a fabulous week at the Paper Players! Your birthday cards were lovely and cute and so much fun! I tried my best to get around to all the submissions to leave comments but with this being my first week back to teaching, it was hard to leave comments on all of them. But I did get the chance to look at all the cards!!!  What a difficult choice for all of us to narrow down! There were so many wonderful birthday cards!

Our design team has chosen their "Cut Above" for this week's challenge:

LeAnne's Choice - Debbie Henderson
Every birthday needs some birthday candles, and Debbie's card was so unique with its REAL birthday candles, dressed up so prettily in Designer Paper, that I just had to make it my Cut Above this week! She used the same papers for embellishing the card itself, and the sentiment tied it all together in one neat little package! So clever! Congrats, Debbie, for being my Cut Above this week!

Tara's Choice - Anni

It was so difficult to chose one project for this birthday card challenge given all the beautiful entries this week. Anni's card caught my eye right away with the bright bold color of the embossed flowers. I just love the clean bright look of the bright orange and pink against the clean white background and the pop of the green leaves. It is such a bright, pretty, dimensional card that would make any birthday a happy one. Congratulations, Anni, for being my Cut Above this week.

Ann's Choice - Julie Elak

With so many wonderful entries this week, picking just one for my Cut Above was a difficult task. However, my eye kept being drawn to this beautiful ribbon flower of Julie's, which she crafted herself. I love the shabby chic feel of this card, with it lacy border and pearls. The profusion of twine is the perfect accent to offset the flower. You created a gorgeous card, Julie...one which is truly deserving of being A Cut Above! Congratulations!

Anne Marie's Choice: Savannah O'Gwynn
What's NOT to love about Savannah's adorable card? That little lion is matched with such fun and festive patterns. The trio of banners and the stitching just tie everything together perfectly. I love the bold sentiment, too. Such a great birthday card, in every way. Who wouldn't love to open an envelope and find this adorable card inside? Congrats, Savannah on being my pick for A Cut Above this week! Roar!

Jaydee's Choice: Cindy Hall

I loved Cindy's card. The colors were so rich and luscious. I also love that she tied the background DSP to the focal image with the same colors and the little pearls. The butterfly in the corner was the perfect touch. The repetition of threes (three yellow elements, three green elements, Bravo Burgundy elements and three focal elements, all came together to create a perfectly harmonious card. The final addition of the Dazzling Details just finished it off beautifully. Cindy, congratulations on being my CUT ABOVE this week.

Nance’s choice: Natalie Decker
I love Natalie’s clean and elegant birthday card! The newsprint patterned paper is always a great touch but Nat has taken it to a whole new level by with her stamped and hand-cut flowers! They add such a bold graphic element and she’s balanced them perfectly with the embossed sentiment in the opposite corner. The pop of red in that gorgeous bow just adds to the sophistication of the whole project. Congratulations Nat…you’re my Cut Above!

Sandie's Choice: Michelle

There were so many beautiful entries this week it was hard to choose just one, but after some arm twisting, I choose Michelle's bicycle card. The colors are so pretty and they work very well together, the stamped image of the bicycle gives the card some whimsy, which perfectly suits the pattern paper. This card can be given to any age, young or old, and all will appreciate it. It is just beautiful. Congratulations, Michelle, You are my choice for A CUT ABOVE this week.

Julie's Choice: Susie Wittwer

Wow, what a fabulous first week it has been as Guest Designer! I had such a great time stopping by each blog and seeing all of your wonderful creations. I found it very challenging to pick just one. In the end, I chose Susie's card because it showcases the fact that you can keep a card simple--but elegant. Her use of just neutrals with the angled layers perfectly shows off these beautiful colors. The light sanding on the embossing, the rhinestones and that gorgeous pleated ribbon were the perfect finishing touches. Congratulations, Susie, for being my cut above this week!

And my choice for HEADLINER this week is...

Jen Timko

I chose Jen's fabulous card because I was blown away by the fussy cutting she did with that flower. It comes from the  Paisley Petals designer paper she used and it is JUST gorgeous. Her bow is also fabulous, love that she used the Seam Binding ribbon and tied it so beautifully. The entire card was clean, simple and elegant! Congrats Jen on being our HEADLINER this week at the Paper Players.

We hope you will all join us tomorrow as Nance reveals an AWESOME Colour Challenge...so exciting!

Smiles,
Lesley
