Shawna’s use of negative space on her ledges is genius.  The tone-on-tone white from the die-cut provides fabulous texture without adding bulk and keeps the design clean.  Her cacti are beautifully colored and really pop on all that white space.  The sentiment placement adds a playful touch that finishes the design perfectly!  Congratulations, Shawna, you’re my choice for Headliner this week!

PP402 - A Clean-and-Simple Challenge from Nance

Hi friends, so good to have you with us!  Thank you to everyone who played along with Joanne's beautiful colors last week.  Nance here, with this month's Clean-and-Simple Challenge--use negative space on your card!  The design team have some fabulous inspiration for you and you can see the idea shown on our challenge badge as well.  Basically, negative space is that left behind by either a die-cut, sponging, or any other technique that lets the bottom layer shine through!  We hope you have fun with this challenge and look forward to your creations.  

Remember, in addition to the use of negative space, this week is a Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Challenge...what do we mean by Clean-and-Simple (CAS)?

• Minimal layers and embellishments
• Plenty of open space, aka "white" space
• Simple and uncluttered

Extension to Challenge #401

Scrapper at Heart 

 

Nancy's card is breathtaking.  The flowers and leaves are beautifully arranged around the heart and the balance is offset perfectly by the sentiment.  There is so much interest in the flowers with the watercolor effect and the popped elements with the nuovo drops are the perfect finishing touch.   Nancy, congratulations on being the HEADLINER on our 400th challenge.
